Grand Lake offers boaters so much room to run and play. With it's deep blue waters and long, wide channels stretching for miles, cruising, skiing and tubing are limited only by the size of your gas tank. When your ready to throttle down there are plenty of quiet coves to drift along and drop a line while you listen to the waves and wildlife on the forested shores.
The tall hills surrounding our natural waterpark do a pretty good job keeping the wind off of the water and making Grand Lake a calmer and more enjoyable place to drop your anchor. Boasting 1300 miles of shoreline the lake is well managed by the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) who patrol it's waters and look after inland sailors to make sure everyone is boating safely. We're very fortunate, for although the original purpose for the lake was strictly a hydroelectric power source, GRDA has accomodated boaters as well as homeowners by allowing homes built close to the water to have private boat docks. Their hospitality has blessed our community with the status of being one of the few lakes in our state where you can live on the water and park your boat at the back door.
You'll find a wide array of marinas and boat service centers from one end of Grand to the other. Many are specialists in pampering your vessel and keeping it in tip top shape. You can leave it here for the winter in one of the many reasonably priced slips which can be equipped with innovative pneumatic tanks which will lift your craft from the cool waters of winter. Several marinas are managed by yacht clubs whose high quality facilities offer their members that extra touch of class and comfort. Swimming pools, gourmet dining, and ship stores filled with lake fashion and sun supplies are available with membership. They know how to throw a party too. Social events are as frequent as they are fun and creative. Of course many are just looking for some parking space and a place to drop their boat in for a few days of fishing and picnicing. Public and state owned boat ramps are dispersed around the lake and accomodate boats and jet skis from all over the southcentral U.S.
If your looking for a place for sailing, cruising and skiing, Grand Lake is the place for you.
